Hotel finds new use for trees felled by Bohol earthquake, 'Yolanda'

Check out Eco Hotel Alona, which uses eco-friendly materials to serve their clients.</span></div><p>Malou Pangilinan, the hotel&#x27;s chief executive officer, said that as a limited-service hotel, Eco Hotel utilizes environmental and ecological practices in the course of doing their business.</p><p>The hotel uses white bricks, or eco-bricks, which are made out of clay, straw, and water.</p><p>Inside the rooms are wooden furniture and decor made out of trees uprooted by the 2013 Bohol earthquake and Typhoon Yolanda.</p><p>&quot;We have found a place for the fallen trees and trees that have been knocked down during the Typhoon Haiyan, and we made a home for them here at Eco Hotel. We have reused and repurposed them into twig art. We use them also as our night stand,&quot; Pangilinan said.</p><p>They also use empty wine bottles as lamps, low flow shower heads, and solar panels as source of energy.</p><p>Eco Hotel was built around a century-old tree, which can be found in the center of the property. <strong>- Green Living, ANC, June 14, 2016</strong></p>
