MANILA – The Christmas season officially began at SM Megamall with the lighting of a 50-foot-tall Christmas tree on Thursday, October 17, marking the start of the festivities.The symbolic tree, which was decorated with colorful ornaments, is inspired by the Christmas holiday in London.This marked the beginning of the Christmas celebrations at the mall, featuring the theme &quot;MEGA HOLIDAYS 2024.&quot;“The inspiration for this year’s concept is a London-inspired mall. We wanted to bring what they do in other countries here in Megamall so that people can also experience,” Ian Mathay, AVP for Operations at SM Supermalls said.“I would like to invite everyone to come to Megamall to experience what we did here and see our setup and also enjoy shopping,” he said.The event was highlighted by Maki, an Original Pilipino Music (OPM) rising star, who serenaded mall goers with performances of his hit songs such as &quot;Sikulo,&quot; &quot;Dilaw&quot; and &quot;Namumula&quot; at the 3D holographic concert.Aside from his songs, he also performed a special cover of &quot;All I want For Christmas Is You&quot; by Mariah Carey.Mandaluyong Mayor Benjamin Abalos Sr. was also in attendance at the ceremonial tree-lighting event.The Christmas tree can be visited at the Ground Level of the mall’s Mega Fashion Hall starting today.
