Bottle collection, segregation promoted at Masskara Festival

<p>MANILA -- A vibrant and worthy celebration and environmental project happened during the MassKara Festival, one of the biggest festivities in country, as Coco-Cola Philippines&#x27;s initiative to promote responsible waste management in partnership with the Bacolod City Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO) were witnessed by the community and festival-goers.</p><p>ABS-CBN News was among the guests invited to see Coca-Cola Philippines and BENRO&#x27;s effort in promoting PET plastic bottle segregation and collection that happened during the 45th Masskara Festival held last month, October 11 to 27, in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. </p><p>Together with Basic Environmental Systems and Technologies, Inc. and festival organizer Yuhum Foundation, the beverage company engaged festival-goers to environmental responsibility by encouraging them to drop off their empty PET bottles at the Coca-Cola bottle counter and The Tindahan Extra Mile (TEM) exchange booths located at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC). In its second year at the MassKara Festival, Tapon to Ipon encouraged attendees to drop off used clear PET plastic bottles of any brand, allowing them to win prizes.</p><p>&quot;We want to encourage everyone to start segregating their waste. Kasi po ang PET bottle ay hindi waste, resource po ito, highly recyclable at pwede po mag-create ng maraming uri ng materials dito like clothing or bottle. Fe Trespuentes, head of BENRO, they started their partnership with the beverage company last year because of TEM.</p><p>&quot;Actually talaga we are partnering with like Coca-Cola in the promotion of the Extended Producers Responsibility Act, bagong law &#x27;yan sa ngayon and we are happy that Coca-Cola isa sa unang-una kumpanya na nag-accept ng challenge to partner with LGU Bacolod,&quot; Trespuentes said.</p><p>&quot;Actually we have membes of TEM, I think na reach na namin yung 500 sari-sari stores and carenderia na nalagyan na natin ng PET collection bins. waste management, festival-goers were also treated to a musical event with Coke Studio MassKaraFestival Concert 2024.</p><p>Last October 26, OPM singers Janine Berdin and Zack Tabudlo headlined the
