<div><span dir="ltr" id="isPasted">MANILA — The country has set another record at the Guinness World Records after the National Federation of Hog Farmers clinched the title for the &quot;Most Variety of Pork Dishes on Display&quot; in its Hog Festival 2024 in Cubao, Quezon City on Friday.</span></div><div><span dir="ltr" id="isPasted"><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:950px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/GHjTHrBbIAADa-6.jpeg" style="width:950px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Jervis Manahan, ABS-CBN News</span></span></span></span></div><div><span dir="ltr" id="isPasted"><br/></span></div><div><span dir="ltr">More than 340 pork dishes were submitted for adjudication but only 313 dishes were approved in the final count, said Guinness&#x27; official adjudicator Sonia Ushirogochi.</span><span dir="ltr"><br/></span></div><div><span dir="ltr">Ushirogochi said this was a new record for Guinness. The minimum is set at 300 dishes made of pork as the main ingredient.</span></div><p>&quot;I&#x27;m happy to be here in the Philippines to adjudicate the official Guinness world attempt for most variety of pork dishes on display. May porchetta sandwich, may sesame seed pork belly, coffee sauced pork belly, and deconstructed sinigang,&quot; said Chef Michael Santos, a participating chef from the Vikings group.<span dir="ltr"></span></p><p>&quot;We&#x27;re all proud, we&#x27;re all excited, halos wala pa tulog. We&#x27;re just proud to be part of it. Almost a month ago, we thought what dishes to make, how to execute, make it unique, para di magdoble-doble sa count, and of course make it delicious,&quot; he added.</p><p>Some featured regional dishes from locally sourced ingredients.</p><p>&quot;Most of it, we&#x27;re focused on Filipino dishes, this came from different regions in the Philippines, may Pampanga, Ilocano, may Western Samar, Zamboanga, local ingredients na makikita sa Pilipinas,&quot; said Chef Joemar Inducil.<span dir="ltr"><br/></span></p><div><span dir="ltr">Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr. said this was a good move to position the Philippines as a premier destination for food tourism.</span><span dir="ltr"><br/></span></div><div><span dir="ltr">It was also a move to promote the local hog industry which has been plagued by the African Swine Fever (ASF) for years.</span></div><p>&quot;It will promote consumption of pork, raise awareness on ASF, basically, awareness on issue will help control it,&quot; Tiu Laurel said.</p><p>&quot;This event will definitely increase awareness sa mga consumer that there is a huge hog industry in our country that needs support. Being on the Guinness Book of World Records will be an achievement on itself, if we do make it on the book of records, it&#x27;s something that we can be proud of,&quot; he added.</p><div><br/></div><div><br/></div><div><span dir="ltr"><br/></span></div><div><br/></div>
