MANILA -- Tag-Ani Performing Arts Society is set to stage its latest production at the Ignacio B. Gimenez-Kolehiyo ng Arte at Literatura Theater in University of the Philippines (UP) in Diliman, Quezon City.

The play, "Spirit of the Glass," is written by Bonifacio Ilagan and directed by Joel Lamangan. It tackles the timely issue of red-tagging of academics and the banning of their works by the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino.

"Even as we speak, red-tagging, extra-judicial, and all sorts of human rights violations are happening -- in Negros, in Bicol, in Mindanao. Nagbago man ang rehimen, hindi man kasing bungangero ang bagong presidente kuno, ang patakaran sa paglabag sa karapatang pantao ay nagpapatuloy. At ito dapat ay ating tandaan," Ilagan said.

The story of "Spirit of the Glass" follows two college instructors who are red-tagged and face government forces trying to silence them and their work.

Audiences can catch the show at the IBG-KAL Theater with performances at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. from March 8 to 10.
