Giving back on Eid-al Fitr

As Muslims conclude their month-long fasting from Ramadan on Eid-ul Fitr, some who are capable prepare meals for their brethren, especially the poor, as an act of kindness.

Nasroden A Usay, one of the distributors, explains that they do Sadaqah out of the goodness of their hearts.
 
“Kailangan sa puso mo, na ito, ibibigay mo sa tao... Kumbaga, bukal sa puso mong magbigay sa taong ‘wala,’ ito ang Sadaqah.”

Eid al-Fitr is celebrated by Muslim families through sharing and charity work, particularly to those in need.

As Muslims conclude their month-long fasting from Ramadan on Eid-al Fitr, some who are capable prepared meals for their brethren, especially the poor, as an act of kindness.&quot;Sadaqah&quot; means voluntary charity of any amount or kind without seeking anything in return and with the intention to please Allah.A number of groups in the vicinity of the Golden Mosque in Manila practiced &quot;sadaqah&quot; by preparing packed meals for visitors after the morning prayer.One group of friends who bond through basketball helped pack around 1,000 set meals of chicken rendang made by an eatery before midnight, and distributed the food on the morning of Eid-ul Fitr.Nasroden A Usay, one of the distributors, explained that they do &quot;sadaqah&quot; out of the goodness of their hearts. “Kailangan sa puso mo, na ito, ibibigay mo sa tao... Kumbaga, bukal sa puso mong magbigay sa taong ‘wala,’ ito ang sadaqah.”Another anonymous donor gave food for others, channeled through a restaurant, as their way to give thanks for the blessings they currently enjoy.The benevolence exemplified by these groups and individuals reflect the faith and devotion of Filipino Muslims.
