Umabot sa 35.1°C ang temperatura sa Metro Manila ngayong araw ng Huwebes, na tinatantyang may 40-41°C heat index, ayon sa naitala sa Science Garden sa Diliman, Quezon City ng Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). Ngayong linggo, umabot na sa 41°C hanggang 45°C ang heat index sa ilang lugar sa Pilipinas, kasama na ang Maynila. Ang heat index na 41-51°C ay kinokonsiderang “danger category” na, kaya nagpayo na ang Pagasa na umiwas sa init sa pamamagitan ng hindi paglabas sa gitna ng init ng araw, pag-inom ng maraming tubig, pagdadamit ng manipis, at gumamit ng mga makatutulong sa pagpapaginhawa tulad ng payong, sumbrero at ilan pang kagamitan. Maaari raw makadama ng panghihina, cramps, pagka-uhaw, na posibleng mauwi sa heat stroke kung tuluyang mabababad sa init. Kaya naman kanya-kanyang paraan ang mga Pilipino para makaiwas sa init.
