I&#x27;ll never forget how it was since it&#x27;s revolving, you get to see the audience several times,&quot; he recalled.The Philippine Independence Day celebration in Houston featured a breakfast for attendees sponsored by the Philippine Consulate.Attendees were treated to traditional Filipino cuisine and live performances.&quot;I hope you can raise the Philippine flag in your home at least to educate your children,&quot; said Consul Gilbert Segarra to participants, &quot;of our heritage and what our forbearers have fought for us to have our freedom.&quot;With over 30 Filipino organizations participating, the annual Kayalaan (Freedom) event has become the largest of its kind in Texas.The fiesta featured Fil-Am talents like California rapper Nump, as well as the powerful voices of Vincent Evangelista and the Fil-Am Vocal Ensemble.There were also some art exhibits, cultural dances, and a traditional Philippine fashion show to add color to the festival.The organizers said the success of the festival shows the growing influence and solidarity of Filipinos in Texas.
