“Bata pa lang ako, alam ko na na the only source conflict ng family was money. My dad would always say na, ‘Anak, whatever you want to be, I respect that, basta huwag ka lang magnanakaw at huwag ka lang manloloko ng tao, and if you can, strive to be the best, if not the best, one of the best,'" he recalled.

"Noong bata ako, sinasabi ko sa mommy ko na kapag tumanda ako, bibigyan ko sila ng maraming pera. Dahil blessed tayo, ako ang nagpaaral sa anak ng brother ko, ako ang nagbigay ng house niya, ako ang nagbigay ng kotse niya. It pays to be good. Bata pa lang ako, alam ko na pera ang sagot. Sinasabi ng tao na money can’t buy you happiness pero sour-graping lang ‘yan.”

He continued: “I teach gay people financial literacy. Itigil na natin ‘yong idea na, ‘Okay lang na ito lang tayo basta magkasama tayo.’ That’s okay pero mas okay kung nabibigyan mo ng magandang buhay ang mga mahal mo sa buhay. Gays deserve a comfortable life.”

“You calling me a moneymaker? Thank you. Kaya lang ako naging ganun kasi I was so hungry and I knew since I was young, pera talaga. Siguro tatawagin ako ng readers na mukhang pera pero ‘yon talaga. Pera, for me, is malaking factor ‘yan,” he added.

The gay entrepreneur owns Karma, Karma Pampanga, Karma Cavite, G-Side, Guilly’s, Lust, Era in Bali, and the newly-launched Rampa Drag Club.

“God gave me extra blessing so sabi ko, ‘Lord, puwede ko bang i-share ito?’ Binigyan tayo ni Lord ng more than what I was praying for, hindi akin lahat ‘yon. May mantra ako sa utak ko na hindi lahat ng binigay sa 'kin ay sa akin. Dapat i-share mo ‘yan for you to become complete,” he said.

He emphasized the power of lending a hand, saying, “I-share natin ang blessings natin sa mga taong kailangan ng medical assistance, mga ganyan. With that, doon ko napi-feel ‘yong pagkatao ko.”

At his newly-opened Rampa Drag Club, Francisco gives the spotlight to underrated drag artists.

“Sa Rampa, bibigyan natin ang artists natin a place kung saan sila magta-thrive at magsha-shine, para hindi lang nakakahon na parlor lang, makeup artist ka lang. Dito, you will be a star,” he proudly said.

“Itong idea ko was 2008 pa. Hindi pa 'drag' ang tawag. Ang tawag pa noon ay impersonation. Dati ko pa gustong magtayo ng drag club. Castro ang original name to give homage sana to Castro sa Amerika, the gay district na may nagpe-perform na impersonators na hindi pa drag ang tawag. Ganun ko na katagal gustong magkaroon ng drag or gay club hanggang sa nagkaron ng 'RuPaul’s Drag Race.' Hanggang sa lumaki ang drag scene, sabi ko, kailangan magkaroon ng drag club sa Quezon City,” he said.

For the gays, Francisco is an inspiration. He is a living proof that gays can run and own a company too.

“My only conscious effort was everything I would act whether on TV or stage I would want to give an image of the LGBT na respected. Kung mararapatan lang ako na magyabang, everytime na lumalabas ako, binibigyan ko ng magandang image ang LGBT,” he expressed.

“Tayong mga bakla, we have the power. I wanna use my power to help other gays. I want them to win in life. Kaya pansin niyo, lahat ng gay roles ko sa pelikula at stage, hindi siya ‘yong bakla na pinagtatawanan o binabatukan. Ayaw ko kasi ng ganun. I love our community. We are everything and we can do anything with pride,” Francisco proudly said.

He also gave his thoughts on gay representation.

“With the power of Vice Ganda and mainstream TV, sobrang accepted na talaga ng gay persona sa Philippines. ‘Di ba nga kapag may pelikula, kailangan may gay character. Unlike in Dubai and Singapore na hindi celebrated. I’m so happy dahil sa ginawa nila Vice. Ang saya ko kapag nakakakita ng LGBT celebration,” he said.

“I’ll celebrate Pride Month with my whole Rampa family. May allies din tayong kasama. Gusto kong magsama-sama lahat. It’s gonna be a big celebration. I want a celebration. Every year before noong wala pang pandemic nagsi-celebrate talaga kami ng Pride Month like nagbi-billboard kami featuring Boy Abunda, Sinon Loresca, and Jake Zyrus. Now, we will it celebrate with the drag artists,” he said.

Do fame and fortune change people? “Lagi kong sinasabi sa friends ko na huwag na huwag kayong magbabago. Actually, hindi ka babaguhin ng pera. Money will just amplify what and who you really are. Kung may masama ka talagang buto at nagkapera ka, lalabas ‘yan. Hindi ko dinadala ang pera ko sa utak. Be grateful, be grounded. Huwag kang malunod sa isang basong tagumpay,” he told ABS-CBN News.

“Self-love is richer,” he said, while sharing his self-care routines, “I still sleep more than 8 hours. Tulog ako sa day. I normally wake up kung walang ganap mga 3 or 4 p.m. My meetings start at 7 or 8 p.m. Doon umaandar ang utak ko. I’m not a morning person.”

“I went back to hiking and walking. Galing akong Singapore, nagpa-medical ako and okay lahat. I regularly get massages and chiro. ‘Yon ang pinaka-bonus ko sa sarili, not shopping. It’s more of ‘yong time na nabibigay ko sa sarili ko. My zen time,” he said.

He emphasized the power of lending a hand, saying, “I-share natin ang blessings natin sa mga taong kailangan ng medical assistance, mga ganyan. With that, doon ko napi-feel ‘yong pagkatao ko.”

At his newly-opened Rampa Drag Club, Francisco gives the spotlight to underrated drag artists.

For the gays, Francisco is an inspiration. He is a living proof that gays can run and own a company too.

The actor turned businessman still gets emotional when he looks back on his journey. Francisco is continually slaying to make his younger self proud by living the life he always dreamed of.

“Never pa ako nagka-jowa in a long time. I try to give my all which sometimes nga si Gretchen Barretto would say ‘leave some for yourself,’” he confessed.

Is it true that it’s lonely at the top? He responded, “Hindi naman.”
