<div><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-YZGQAvbRgc?&amp;feature=youtu.be&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe> </div>Drum rolls, balloons, bubbles, and rainbow colors filled the air as thousands flocked to Downtown Toronto on June 30 for one of Canada&#x27;s biggest annual Pride celebrations.Participants were from different backgrounds and for the first time, included the the Sibol Filipino-Canadian Pride Network.The group represents Filipino-Canadian members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community with over 70 participants in the parade.The term &quot;2SLGBTQIA+&quot; is formally used by the Canadian government to include those who identify as “two-spirited” people.&quot;It just feels so good being able to organize Filipino-led parade participants,&quot; said Sibol&#x27;s founder Tyson Dimayuga Jr. &quot;I&#x27;ve been in Canada for maybe eight years now, and I&#x27;ve never walked the Pride March.&quot;The volunteer-led community was founded in 2023 to provide career development and networking opportunities for members of the LGBT community.&quot;&#x27;Sibol&#x27; in Tagalog means growth,&quot; Dimayuga continued. &quot;So, the main goal is to spread the network, get to know more people, and support the community. &quot;The group&#x27;s co-founder Leo Edward Gubac said members of the LGBT community continue to face challenges despite Canada&#x27;s reputation as a multicultural nation.&quot;There are certain sectors or people that still experience discrimination,&quot; he said. &quot;We&#x27;re here as a group to hear people&#x27;s experiences so that we can empower ourselves on how to deal with it.&quot;As Sibol plans its future initiatives, it encourages all Filipino LGBT members in Canada to join its journey of growth and solidarity.&quot;We&#x27;re planning to do peer mentoring in the future,&quot; Dimayuga said. &quot;We have some things lined up for the community but those are still in the works.The Pride Parade in Toronto not only highlighted diversity and inclusion, but also the growing visibility and support for Filipino-Canadians within the LGBT community.
