Senators donned their best as they strutted the red carpet before the opening of the third regular session of the Senate on Monday morning.

First to walk were Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero and his wife, fashion icon Heart Evangelista-Escudero.

Heart wore an elegant and modern all-white Filipiniana by Michael Leyva while Escudero wore a traditional Barong Tagalog.

Senator Bong Revilla also wore a barong with cane in hand as he was still recovering from an Achilles tendon surgery. His wife Cavite Second District Rep. Lani Mercado-Revilla wore a green floral ensemble.

Majority Leader Senator Francis Tolentino wore a barong as well, same as Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada whose piña barong was made by Rod Francisco. Estrada’s wife, Precy, wore an off-white and gray baro’t saya.

Sen. Cynthia Villar had a simple orange terno, while Sen. Ronald Dela Rosa walked in a barong with his wife Nancy wearing a purple Filipiniana.

Senate Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros had a solo walk in a sleek baro’t saya made of piña by designer Joel Acebuche.

Sen. Grace Poe wore a one-piece white silk crepe terno by Paul Cabral, with her husband Neil Llamanzares by her side.

Sen. Nancy Binay’s terno was designed by Randy Ortiz and adorned with calado patterns, vintage beadwork and motifs of rice stalks. Binay’s husband Jose Angeles joined her.

Next to walk was Sen. Raffy Tulfo who wore a Leyva barong with lacework. His wife ACT-CIS Partylist Rep. Jocelyn Tulfo had a red serpentina gown with intricate handwoven details that symbolize the traditional banig weave.

Senators JV Ejercito, Juan Miguel Zubiri, Bong Go, Robinhood Padilla, Lito Lapid, Joel Villanueva and Minority Leader Senator Koko Pimentel also had traditional barongs. Lapid was with his son Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) Vice Chairperson Mark Lapid, while Pimentel was with his wife Kathryna.

Sen. Mark Villar wore a barong, too, with wife Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Undersecretary Emmeline Aglipay-Villar who wore a white and modern Filipiniana.

The President's sister Sen. Imee Marcos looked elegant in her green Filipiniana whose sleeves were designed with the image of farmers tilling the land.

Sen. Loren Legarda donned a Maria Clara-inspired ensemble by Puey Quiñones.

Last to walk the red carpet were Senator Alan Peter Cayetano in a barong and his wife, Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano in a gold-looking piece.
