MANILA — The Philippines will host the Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ (ASEAN) Skills Competition in 2025, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) said on Tuesday.

The ASEAN Skills Competition — also known as WorldSkills ASEAN — is a contest that showcases the region’s best technical skills in areas such as cybersecurity, baking, carpentry, fashion and graphic design, among others.

“Darating po ang mga technical vocational skills development secretaries ng mga bansa sa ASEAN,” said Vidal Villanueva, TESDA’s deputy director general for operations.

To prepare for the regional competition, the TESDA will be holding a series of events and contests this month, he told state television PTV.

“August 25 is the National Technical Vocational Day,” he said.

“Mga industries, partners natin ay magkakaroon ng job hiring at interviews ng mga applicants kaya exciting ito,” he said.

“Tuturuan natin sila paano ba mag-prepare ng resume, paano sagutin ang tanong sa mga interview at paano ba nila bihisan ang mga sarili nila when appearing before employers.”

TESDA will hold these activities at the World Trade Center from August 21 to 25, he said.
