QC bakery sells 'Pan de Nora’ in honor of the late ‘Superstar’ Nora Aunor to commemorate 72nd birthday

Fans of the late ‘Superstar’ and National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Nora Aunor flocked to Kamuning Bakery in Quezon City on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, for the launch of “Pan de Nora,” a special bread created in her honor to commemmorate her 72nd birthday. As of 7 a.m., the 86-year-old bakery in Quezon City had already packed over 500 pieces for advance orders on its first day. “Kaya siya tinawag na Pan de Nora, kasi po nilagyan namin siya ng nunal… &#x27;yung nunal po ay raisin at tsaka &#x27;yung nasa loob po ay butter and cheese po,” said bakery staffer Noren Olivar. Among the early customers was Dong Abutal, 58, who placed his order around 6 a.m. He said the bread brought back memories of his mother taking him to the cinema to watch Aunor’s films. “Nakita ko sa Facebook feed. Since taga-Kamuning ako, naisipan ko bumili and bring some to my fellow teachers… it’s my mother who introduced us siblings to Nora Aunor, so naalala ko, nung maliliit pa kami, dinadala niya kami sa sinehan.” Mary Jane Luminding, 27, said her boss asked her to stop by the bakery to buy the bread upon seeing it online. After tasting it, she ended up ordering some for herself. “Parang melty with cheese tapos hindi siya parang hangin lang sa loob. Talagang swak na swak. Worth it talaga &#x27;yung pagbili mo… bibili ako ulit kasi siya masarap talaga,” she said. Aunor, who rose to fame in the 1960s, starred in iconic films such as &quot;Himala&quot; (1982), &quot;The Flor Contemplacion&quot; Story (1995), and &quot;Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos,&quot; where she won Best Actress awards from both Gawad Urian and FAMAS. She died on April 16, 2025, at the age of 71. Aunor was laid to rest beside director Ishmael Bernal at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City on April 22.
