Former Telemundo exec Ronald Day is new CEO of Miss Universe Organization

The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) has a new chief executive officer. 

Ronald Day, former president of entertainment and chief operating officer at the Spanish-language television network Telemundo, now takes the helm at MUO, as announced on Wednesday.

Telemundo was a broadcast partner in last year's Miss Universe pageant in Mexico, which was won by Victoria Theilvig of Denmark. 

"The Miss Universe Organization proudly welcomes Ronald Day as CEO. With over three decades of experience in media and entertainment, and a passion for promoting cultural diversity and empowering women, Ronald joins MUO at a historic moment of growth and global impact," MUO said in a statement posted on its social media pages.

"This marks a new chapter in our mission to elevate the Miss Universe experience and continue inspiring millions around the world through leadership, innovation, and purpose," it added.

The role of CEO was previously held by Anne Jakrajutatip, who is also a co-owner of MUO and its sister pageants, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA.

Also part of the organization is another Thai entrepreneur, Miss Grand International founder Nawat Itsaragrisil, who sits as MUO executive director.

This year's Miss Universe will be held in Thailand in November. 

Pageant veteran Ahtisa Manalo will aim for the Philippines' fifth crown after Catriona Gray (2018), Pia Wurtzbach (2015), Margie Moran (1973), and Gloria Diaz (1969).
