Meet Jefferson and Panda, social media's 'PAWsaway' doggos

And paired with their fur mom’s relatable reactions and non-stop scolding, it’s no wonder they continue to attract attention across the platform.</p><p>In an interview with ABS-CBN News, the dogs’ owner, Amy Osorio, described the 11-month old Jefferson as a certified attention-seeker and “super kulit.” From tumbling off tables and sneaking outside to play in the mud, to falling into a muddy canal and even attempting to climb a tree, Jefferson often finds himself in trouble and receives frequent scolding from her. Nagkakaroon siya ng separation anxiety. Tapos pag-uwi ko, nagsasalita siya na para bang pinapagalitan ako,” said Osorio.</p><p>But what really hooked netizens about Jefferson is his hilarious human-sounding name. Where in a world full of pets named “Brownie” and “Oreo”, there’s Jefferson — a name you&#x27;d typically expect from someone who works a corporate job but not a mud-loving pup who loves tumbling off tables.</p><p>According to Osorio, her sister had originally planned to adopt the dog and gave him the name Jefferson, which came from the name of her sister’s husband — Jeffrey — since the couple didn’t have a son. But when plans changed as her sister took over the care of Panda’s mother, Jefferson ended up staying with Osorio instead. As the name “Jefferson” grew on her, along with her deepening attachment to the pup, she decided to keep things as they were, saying: “Hindi ko siya ipinamigay sa iba.”</p><p>Thus, the now-iconic “Jefferson, ayan!” line was born — Osorio’s go-to line on TikTok whenever Jefferson stirs up mini disasters, which Osorio explained that netizens have since turned into an inside joke, humorously adopting the catchphrase as the dog’s full online name: “Jefferson A. Yan.”</p><p>“Nag-viral ‘yung video niya na nahulog siya sa mesa. Dubbed by netizens as ‘lowered na baka’ because of her chunky and stubby build and cow-like black-and-white markings, Panda brings a calmer yet still low-key chaotic energy compared to Jefferson’s active and playful demeanor.</p><p>But still, Panda is as unpredictable as her younger sibling. Much like Jefferson, there were instances where Panda was caught sneaking outside and playing in the mud. In fact, Osorio shared that Panda first became viral after falling into a canal. “Nahulog siya sa kanal dahil hinabol niya ‘yung mouse. For the 44-year-old Osorio who owns three dogs, being a pet owner is more than just feeding them and bathing them. It is a huge responsibility where patience in understanding their needs play an important role.</p><p>“It’s not easy to have a dog. More time ang kailangan nila kasi kailangan mo din silang laruin, at kausapin. Kailangang pag-aralan mo ‘yung mga gesture nila para magkaintindihan kayo, and especially ‘yung pagdala sa kanila sa vet — you need funds for them talaga.”</p><p>But these, nor their out-of-this-world quirks, do not make her love them any less. After all, Osorio does not want anything but the best for her dogs, whom she considers as her own children.</p><p>“Lagi kong sinasabi na mahal ko sila. Kung puwede lang talaga na ‘yung buhay nila eh kasing haba din sana ng buhay natin. I [will] do my best [na] kung ilang taon ang ilalagi nila na kasama ako, gusto kong maging masaya sila [at] hindi sila makaramdam ng gutom o ano mang pain.”</p>
