This time, they came to see a different side of Ed Sheeran.</p><p>The British singer-songwriter has unveiled his first public art exhibition, &#x27;The Cosmic Carpark Paintings,&quot; a collection of original works and edition prints now on display through August 1. The pieces were created during breaks in his touring schedule and are being sold to raise funds for the Ed Sheeran Foundation, which supports music education initiatives across the UK.</p><p>Sheeran began painting after the conclusion of his Divide tour in 2019, using the break to explore visual art, an interest rooted in his upbringing. Both of his parents worked in the arts, and he credits that environment with nurturing his creative instincts.</p><p>“I started painting at the end of my Divide Tour in 2019 and it’s something that I’ve used as a creative outlet ever since,” Sheeran said in a statement. </p><div><br/></div><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:958px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/17524755291293. Featuring expressionist, splash-style pieces inspired by celestial themes, the works were originally created for friends and family.</p><p>The idea to mount a public exhibition came after conversations with artist Damien Hirst and gallerist Joe Hage, both of whom encouraged Sheeran to share the paintings more widely. He later decided to use the opportunity to benefit his foundation, which provides grants for grassroots music projects, schools, and equipment.</p><p>“I told my good friends Damien Hirst and Joe Hage about the paintings, and they encouraged me to put on my own thing, so I decided I’d use it as a way of raising funds for my Ed Sheeran Foundation,” he said.</p><div><br/></div><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:958px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/17524756490692. The original paintings can be requested via HENI Primary.</p><p>Admission to the exhibition is free.
