<div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/175549897382420250818 (11).jpg" style="width:950px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/>Handout</div>MANILA — National Artist for Literature Virgilio Almario, also known by his pen name Rio Alma, will launch his latest poetry collection Kanta kay Josefina on Tuesday, August 19, during the “Pista ng Sining sa Ferndale” in Quezon City.The book, published by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), is translated into English by poet Michael de Lara Co and features illustrations by Celeste Lecaroz.Two other titles will also be launched at the event: &quot;Dog Country,&quot; a satirical poetry collection by lawyer Marvin Aceron published by San Anselmo Press; and &quot;Tokhang-Tokhague,&quot; an anthology on extrajudicial killings edited by Mia Jalandoni Sumulong and Sejo Esguerra, with cover art by Paul Eric Roca, published by Librong LIRA.The cultural program coincides with Quezon City Day and Araw ng Wika. It is the first time the Ferndale Homeowners Association is holding an event to mark the birth anniversary of former President Manuel L. Quezon.“We want to present the cultural face of our subdivision,” association president Atty. Felipe Cruz said. “We have doctors, engineers, and other young professionals in our place, but we are proud to also have teachers, artists, and writers.”Aside from the book launches, the program will feature the opening of an art exhibit by resident artists, the inauguration of Silid Aklatan, a library of literary collections for young readers, and the unveiling of a new line of poetry-inspired Linya-Linya shirts. A mini book fair will also be held.The festivities will run from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Ferndale Homes Clubhouse and are open to the public. Preceding the main program, artist Fernando Sena will conduct a visual arts workshop for students and residents from 1 to 4 p.m.“Pista ng Sining” is co-sponsored by the Kyusi Pambansang Araw ng Pagtula Task Force led by Atty. Noel del Prado, LIRA, and San Anselmo Press.
