<p>The choral group The City of Voices (TCV) is among the Filipino choral groups that gained international recognition after joining this year&#x27;s Taipei International Choral Competition (TICC).</p><p>Formed in 2018 and united by music and their love to serve the church, The City of Voices found a new beginning in 2024, singing at a Mass service at St. John Paul II Parish in Eastwood City, Quezon City.  </p><p>Just after a year, they won two gold awards at the TICC under the Contemporary Music and Ethnic/Traditional Music categories.  </p><p>Twenty-two members of TCV joined the competition under the baton of Jet Torres as its conductor.</p><div><br/></div><div><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?height=476&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Freel%2F1277701777358086%2F&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=267&amp;t=0" width="267" height="591" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><div><br/></div><div><br/></div><p>In the competition TCV performed six songs including traditional folk song &quot;Pagtulog Na Nene&quot; and &quot;Salidummay.&quot;</p><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1755501818134songs.JPG" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><div><br/></div><p>The City of Voices were among the eight Filipino groups that joined TICC. A total of of 73 choirs participated in different categories from different countries such as Czech Republic, Hong Hong, Indonesia, Taiwan and many more.</p><p>Members of TCV have their own respective careers from Monday to Saturday. There&#x27;s a teacher, nurse, government employee, CEO of a research company, professional make-up artist, BPO head, junior architect, visual artist IT professional, and more.</p><p>Like other choral groups, members come from various competition choirs, but some are also first-timers.</p><p>The TCV conductor and core members focus on creating a fun, healthy and Christ-centered culture and focus not just on member singing ability but most importantly the ability to relate with the rest of the members. </p><p>Members are encouraged to do better than they did in the last rehearsal. As its conductor Torres would always says, &quot;The choir is only as good as its weakest singer.&quot;</p><p>Torres learned this from his mentor, Mark Anthony Carpio, conductor and musical director of the acclaimed Madrigal Singers.</p>
