<div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/IRjuAemfaQE?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span>The hit action game “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice” is being adapted into an anime series, its creators announced Tuesday at Gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany.</div><p>Titled “Sekiro: No Defeat,” the project is a fully hand-drawn adaptation produced by Kadokawa, Crunchyroll, Qzil.la and ARCH. It will stream exclusively on Crunchyroll worldwide, except in Japan, China, Korea, Russia and Belarus.</p><p>The anime retells the story of “Sekiro,” an award-winning game developed by FromSoftware and published by Activision that has sold more than 10 million copies since its release. Set in a fantastical version of Sengoku-era Japan, the story follows the lone shinobi known as Wolf in a tale of loyalty, blood and survival.</p><p>“We are taking on the monumental task of animating the breathtakingly beautiful ‘Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice,’” director Kenichi Kutsuna said in a statement. “The final product is being crafted to be a truly memorable experience, one that will leave a lasting impression on both dedicated fans of the game and those who are discovering the world of Sekiro for the very first time.”</p><p>Asa Suehira, chief content officer at Crunchyroll, said the anime preserves the precision and intensity that defined the original game. “We’re excited to bring ‘Sekiro: No Defeat’ to fans around the world, and honored to work alongside Kadokawa, Qzil.la and ARCH to expand this iconic story through the medium of anime,” Suehira said.</p><p>The creative team behind the adaptation includes screenwriter Takuya Satou, character designer Takahiro Kishida, art director Yuji Kaneko and composer Shuta Hasunuma. Daisuke Namikawa will voice the protagonist Wolf, with Miyuki Satou as Kuro, the Divine Heir, and Kenjiro Tsuda as Genichiro Ashina.</p><p>“Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice” won multiple Game of the Year awards following its 2019 release, cementing FromSoftware’s reputation as a leader in action-adventure game design alongside titles such as &quot;Elden Ring,&quot; &quot;Bloodborne&quot; and &quot;Dark Souls.&quot;</p>
