A waitlist for tickets is open until September 18 at baseasia.com.The production is based on Roald Dahl’s 1964 novel and includes songs from the 1971 film adaptation such as “Pure Imagination,” “The Candy Man” and “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket,” alongside new music by Grammy- and Tony-winning duo Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.“Roald Dahl’s &#x27;Charlie and the Chocolate Factory&#x27; is a dazzling fantasy for everyone from everywhere,” producers Simone Genatt and Marc Routh said in a statement. “This new production features miraculous special effects inspired by advanced magical concepts. We are so excited to share the breathtaking world of this beloved Broadway musical about the power of imagination, and the art of invention with Singapore audiences in this spectacular new immersive production from an all-Broadway creative team!”The musical first opened on Broadway in 2017 and later toured North America for four years. It also ran on London’s West End, where it won two Olivier Awards.The Singapore production will feature direction by Matt Lenz, choreography by Alison Solomon and musical supervision by Nate Patten and Greg Jarrett. Illusion designer Tim Clothier, known for his work in Las Vegas, will contribute new stage effects.Base Entertainment Asia CEO Chantal Prudhomme said the production “speaks to audiences of all ages, from children discovering the magic for the first time to lifelong fans of Roald Dahl’s timeless story and films.”
