<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:950px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/17584231419332-Composite (3) 6.jpg" style="width:950px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner"><em>Anita Rose Gomez/Instagram</em></span></span></span>MANILA -- Anita Rose Gomez is no stranger to setbacks, but for the 23-year-old beauty queen from Zambales, each loss has only paved the way for a bigger stage. </div><p>On Saturday, September 20, the ALV Pageant Circle held a send-off press conference for Gomez, who will carry the Philippine flag at the Miss Asia-Pacific International 2025 pageant in Cebu City.</p><p>From her early bid at Miss Universe Philippines to her persistence at Miss Grand Philippines, Gomez has proven that defeat does not define her. </p><p>Last year, she competed in the national pageant for Miss Universe-Philippines. She lost to Bulacan’s Chelsea Manalo and only managed to land in the Top 10 finalists.</p><p>This year, she competed again at the recently concluded Miss Grand Philippines 2025, but failed to bring home the crown. Instead, she managed to clinch the Miss Asia-Pacific Philippines 2025 title.</p><p>“I’ve always believed that one setback doesn’t determine one’s future. I joined again because I didn’t want fear or failure to define me. I knew I had more to give, more to learn, and more to share,” she said.</p><p>Earning the Miss Asia-Pacific Philippines crown was already something to celebrate.</p><p>“I was raised by a simple family and taught never to be complacent, but always grateful for whatever result comes my way. I dreamed of the crown, but what mattered most was the person I became while reaching for it. I aimed high, but I measure success not by what sits on my head, but by the strength and growth I carry within,” she added.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>Platform to empower women</strong></div><p>For Gomez, “pageants today give women the chance to be seen and heard.</p><p>“Growing up, I’ve learned that beauty has so much more to offer; it carries stories, voices, and change. In that process, pageants become platforms of influence, showing that beauty with purpose can move people, shift perspectives, and inspire change,” explained Gomez, who initiated the Para Kay Juan at Juana Project, which helps the underprivileged to have quality education.</p><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:633px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1758420513074538441915_2538678029820734_3092595492253621290_n.jpg" style="width:633px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner">Anita Rose Gomez. <em>Handout</em></span></span></span>Despite her victory, Gomez said the crown has not changed who she is. Instead, it has humbled her even more and strengthened her desire to help others whenever the opportunity arises. For her, being Miss Asia-Pacific Philippines is about embodying both humility and resilience.</div><p>“This crown is not just worn, it must be lived,” she said. “It demands responsibility, groundedness, and the strength to represent with sincerity and purpose. And I believe I was formed with exactly these qualities.”</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>Humble beginnings</strong></div><p>When asked how she wants to be remembered during her reign, Gomez said: “I want to be remembered as someone who gave light to others, not through titles alone, but through the impact I created with them.”</p><p>From her humble beginnings in Zambales, Gomez was raised to value humility.</p><p>“I’ve walked every step with truth and heart. I never let setbacks define me; instead, I let them shape me into somebody stronger,” she said.</p><p>“Crowns may fade, but I hope people remember the woman who turned influence into purpose, and victories into causes.”</p><p>Beyond staying true to oneself and enjoying the journey, Gomez offered this advice to aspiring beauty queens: “Prepare beyond the stage and work on yourself beyond the mirror, because beauty fades but character remains. It’s the strength of your heart and mind that will carry you through.”</p><p>Gomez believes that if pageantry is truly one’s calling, it must be embraced wholeheartedly, with feet firmly planted and a grounded heart.</p><p>“The journey will not always be easy, but it will shape you to be an inspiration for others and to continue to dream,” she said.</p><div><br/></div><div><em>Catch Gomez as she competes at the Miss Asia-Pacific International 2025 against 49 other delegates on October 8 at the Cebu Coliseum.</em></div>
