Miss Grand Philippines/FacebookMANILA — With flowers, fanfare, and high hopes for a back-to-back win, Emma Mary Tiglao received a royal send-off on Friday, September 26, ahead of her journey to Thailand for Miss Grand International 2025.</div>The Kapampangan queen is scheduled to depart for Thailand on Monday, September 29, to represent the Philippines in the upcoming 13th edition of Miss Grand International on October 18.After CJ Opiaza’s assumption as last year’s titleholder, the nation and pageant fans eagerly hope for a back-to-back win.Tiglao was joined at Friday’s send-off by ALV Pageant Circle president and national director for Miss Grand Philippines, Arnold Vegafria; and her queen sisters Nikki Buenafe Cheveh, Face of Beauty 2025, and Beatriz Angela Ocampo, Tiglao’s second runner-up from Miss Grand Philippines.Despite being under the weather, the 30-year-old queen gamely answered the questions hurled at her. When asked about her national costume, Tiglao kept fans guessing, teasing that it would highlight her Kapampangan roots.When asked what uniquely Kapampangan identity she would showcase on the Miss Grand International stage, Tiglao, a tourism graduate, pointed to her people’s character.“I think it’s the personality of a Kapampangan — being proud. Others may seem to view it as ‘kayabangan.’ But it’s really taking pride in who we are and what we can offer to the rest of the world,” said the TV news anchor.The 5-foot-8 former model represented the country in the Miss Intercontinental 2019, and placed in the Top 20.Asked how she has changed since competing in Miss Intercontinental, Tiglao was quick to reply: “I’ve evolved into a much better person.” She added that she now feels more prepared to work with the Miss Grand International organization should she bring home the golden crown.The Philippines has achieved notable finishes in Miss Grand International over the years: Roberta Angela Tamondong, fifth runner-up (2022); Samantha Mae Bernardo, first runner-up (2020), Elizabeth Clenci, second runner-up (2017); Nicole Cordoves, first runner-up (2016); Parul Shah, third runner-up (2015); and Annalie Forbes, third runner-up (2013).
