Photo from the Guinness World Records on Facebook</div>Toby, a cat from Michigan in the United States, has earned a Guinness World Record for having the most toe beans, sharing the title with another cat that boasts the same number of paw pads.The Guinness World Records recently awarded Toby with the title, thanks to his 28 toes — 10 more than the average cat — tying the record set in 2002 by another feline, Jake.Toby was adopted by Delaney Henderson, who took him in as a companion for another cat that she rescued.Henderson admitted that although she had already owned a polydactyl cat — a feline born with more than the usual number of toes — Toby still came as a surprise.“Having another polydactyl cat, I was expecting the extra ‘thumbs,’” Henderson <a href="https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/news/2026/6/nine-lives-10-extra-toes-paw-some-michigan-kitty-ties-record-for-the-most-toes-on-a-cat">told the Guinness World Records</a>. “Nothing could’ve prepared me to see Toby’s paws.”“When I first saw his toes, I really couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” she said.But Henderson said Toby’s feet were never the reason she chose him.“I had a gut feeling when I met him that he was meant to be in my life, and I am so grateful to have given him a forever home,” she said.<div><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fphoto.php%3Ffbid%3D1442322991263086%26set%3Da.629371752558218%26type%3D3&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=500" width="500" height="729" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div>As a kitten, Henderson recalled, Toby was shy and cautious. Over time, however, he began showing a different side of himself.Now, Henderson described Toby as  the most energetic cat she has ever had. He uses couches almost like launch pads, tears into treat bags and rushes toward the pantry whenever he hears the door open.“When he isn’t being a ball of energy, he is such a big baby,” Henderson said. “He loves cuddles, will purr as soon as you touch him, and falls asleep between my legs anytime I am on the couch.”Henderson also stressed that Toby had no health issues related to his condition.For Henderson, the world record is also only part of Toby’s story.Both her cats come from rescue groups, so Henderson hoped the attention to Toby would encourage more people to open their homes to shelter animals.“Having these two kitties has truly changed my life for the better,” she said.“They have become the best emotional support for everyone in our household and always bring joy and love to everyone they meet.”
