<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1769785720848The Magic Table 01.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left"><em>Handout</em></span></span></span></div><p>Grand Hyatt Manila in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig has brought in another immersive concept, this time letting diners be part of the magic. </p><p>The Magic Table (yes, the name is as straightforward as it can get) is a concept by internationally acclaimed mentalists Thommy Ten and Amelie van Tass, better known as The Clairvoyants from &quot;America&#x27;s Got Talent.&quot; It comes to Grand Hyatt Manila after the success of <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/life/02/25/22/bgc-eats-le-petit-chef-comes-to-grand-hyatt-manila">Le Petit Chef</a> (which, by the way, is back for another run at the hotel), where an animated chef is projected onto plates.</p><p>Both are entertaining dining experiences that use projection-mapped tables, and each has its own charm. We won&#x27;t get much into detail as mystery is part of the appeal, but no need to stress over whether you&#x27;ll pull it off or not — all you have to do is pay attention and enjoy the experience. </p><p>But we can certainly talk about the food, which can stand on its own even without the tricks. The five-course Wizard&#x27;s Essential Menu (P8,500 net per person) is carefully paced, with each dish unlocked as a reward of sorts for participating in the illusion. </p><p>Our meal started with A Spell of the Forest, a pleasantly earthy appetizer of forest and porcini mushroom pâté placed on a bed of hazelnut soil, fig, lemon, pistachio, and Manuka honey. </p><p>The next two dishes were all about seafood: Enchanted Shell, featuring herb-crusted, butter-poached Hokkaido scallops paired with sundried tomato and a rich crustacean bisque; and The Alchemy of the Sea, a crabmeat and codfish brandade layered with sake-marinated ikura and avocado and served with bread.</p><div><br/></div><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1769786382386A Spell of the Forest.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left"><em>Handout</em></span></span></span></div><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1769786328547Enchanted Shell.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left"><em>Handout</em></span></span></span></div><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1769786152585The Magic Table 05.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left"><em>Handout</em></span></span></span></div><p>And then, the main course: The Order of Fire, a beautiful slice of Mulwarra tenderloin beef wellington served with bone marrow and café de Paris butter jus. There&#x27;s the option to add pan-seared foie gras and freshly shaved black truffle for an extra P1,000 (an upgrade to the Grand Illusion Menu), but the dish can honestly stand on its own. </p><p>We ended the meal with a fiery dessert — The Final Illusion was literally set in flames as it arrived on the table, revealing two spheres of chocolate hazelnut and cherry sorbet. Make sure to come hungry and curious (and in smart casual attire).</p><p>The Magic Table at Grand Hyatt Manila has 40 seats per show (6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.) and runs for approximately two hours.
