Guests are invited to a boozy afternoon tour on board jeepneys with stops around selected Makati restaurants.Each stop typically features all-you-can-sip one wine producer, all-you-can-sample curated selections from the restaurant’s menu, and some surprise activities to keep things interesting. In the past, the cuisines chosen were mostly western fare from restaurants like Tartufo for Italian, Society Lounge for French, and the much-missed Elbert’s Collective for American comfort food. While European food is a natural match for wines, my favorite pairings last year were the meaty all-beef sliders of Elbert’s Collective paired with chilled Faustino Spanish Cava.   <div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1772787922937wines inside.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/>Jeeves de Veyra</div>This year, Winedrop has included Asian and Filipino restaurants to its list of stops. Mamou 5 in Greenbelt returns as the first stop with bottles of French wine producer Chateau Roubine with winemaker Léonard Riboud joining the tour. Then, Oak and Smoke for a spicy Southeast Asian menu paired with Spanish Demuerte Wines. Then the tour wraps up at the Michelin Select recognized branch of Manam in the Ayala Triangle Gardens with wines from German Producer Villa Wolf, New Zealand producer Allan Scott, with Cognac Godet VSOP to properly wrap up a boozy afternoon.It’s rare to see wine pairings with Southeast Asian and Filipino flavors. Perhaps this year’s Jeepney Wine Tour will reveal bottles that work well with curries, sisig, or inasal.The 2026 Jeepney Wine Tour kicks off at Mamou 5 in Greenbelt on March 14 at 1:30pm and is priced at P5,990/pax for first-timers and P5,500/pax for those who’ve the tour before.
