The tables are set far apart, creating cozy pockets of privacy throughout the restaurant, with a bar off to one side an an open kitchen at the far end.</p><p>Yawaragi typically offers a menu that blends Japanese and international cuisine for its breakfast and weekend buffets. With its new Grill Menu, the focus shifts to premium Japanese ingredients cooked over binchotan charcoal. This is a special kind of charcoal that burns extra hot without adding any acrid aromas or flavor to the food that is flown in from Japan.</p><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1777367112194YAMAZATO - SAke.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner">Yamazato Sake.<em> Jeeves de Veyra </em></span></span></span></div><p>The Yamazato Sake, named after Yawaragi&#x27;s sister fine dining restaurant downstairs, and especially bottled for Hotel Okura, is a recommended aperitif to start the meal. On this visit, stuffed crab meatballs offered delicious bites while waiting for the grilled entrees.</p><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1777367165313Skewers 1.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner">Skewers. <em>Jeeves de Veyra </em></span></span></span></div><p>First among the new additions is the Kushiyaki grilled skewers that are cooked in the central open kitchen then brought to the table. These are sets of two skewers served with Japanese rice, miso soup with a side of Maldon salt, matcha salt, and wasabi along with dipping sauces. Choices include three kinds of yakitori — thigh, negima (thigh with scallion), and tsukune ( glazed chicken meatballs) — to prawns, Kurobuta pork, Wagyu F1 tenderloin, and A1 ribeye.</p><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1777643558443683841268_780058905042000_8955313811435501299_n.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner">Ishiyaki. <em>Jeeves de Veyra</em></span></span></span></div><p>With the Ishiyaki, cube-shaped hibachi braziers are filled with glowing red hot binchotan are brought to the table topped with volcanic ishi (stone) plates instead of a grill. One can see that Yawaragi prides itself with the quality of the meats brought out — from the bright orange color of the salmon to the almost white marbled A5 Wagyu. Guests can then cook the ingredients to their desired doneness whether it be a light sear, or well-done to the center.  </p><p>It is recommended not to dally too long as the charcoal does cool down after some time, though the attentive wait staff are ready with fresh hot binchotan should the need arise.</p><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1777367291934hamburg don.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner">Hamburg Don. <em>Jeeves de Veyra </em></span></span></span></div><p>There are hefty plates of donburi like the premium bowl of Okura Signature Hamburger Steak donburi with a tasty onion gravy. The hamburger patties are also grilled in the center kitchen.</p><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1777367315716chef with ramen.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner">Bouillion Ramen. <em>Jeeves de Veyra </em></span></span></span></div><p>My favorite entrée from the new menu is the Shoyu and Bouillion Ramen from a recipe by Hotel Okura Manila’s specialty chef for sushi. This is a filling bowl with a delicately balanced clear broth with mackerel notes with properly springy noodles topped with a thick slice of soy pork belly and a whole tea egg.</p><p>The Grill Menu is available during lunch on Mondays and Tuesdays and dinner from Monday to Thursday. </p><div><br/></div><div><em>Yawaragi is located at the fifth floor of Hotel Okura Manila in Newport World Resorts, Pasay City.</em></div>
