<div><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/XN_weZLsuNw?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe> </div>A milestone was made in the heart of Nanton, Alberta, as Madison Manor became the first Filipino-owned assisted living facility for seniors in the province.Madison Manor, which has a 17-bed capacity, hosted a special blessing and open house, attended by friends, community members, and leaders, including the mayor of Nanton.It was a significant moment for the Filipino community that highlighted the growing diversity and entrepreneurial spirit within the region.The facility was recently purchased by Filipino-Canadians Tess Ala and Ferdinand Zantua.From friends to business partners, they decided to work together in this new venture, bringing in their backgrounds in the medical field.&quot;I was inspired because we both started as immigrants,&quot; said Ala. &quot;I’m a nurse, and Ferdi is in the healthcare industry. Most Filipinos started out in nursing homes. We went through a lot back then; we used to work in care facilities. We realized that we could run this ourselves.&quot;Zantua, for his part, said they plan to expand the facility later on and provide work opportunities, especially to their fellow Filipinos.&quot;Our long-term plan is to construct something at the back,&quot; he said. &quot;Hopefully within the next three years, we’ll be able to start construction. We will hire workers.&quot;Ala emphasized their commitment to treating each resident as family.She said the decision to purchase Madison Manor was driven by a desire to give back to the community and create a place where seniors could thrive in a supportive and loving environment.The open house allowed visitors to tour the newly renovated facility, showcasing the comfortable living spaces and amenities.The event was supported by the Calgary Filipino community and fellow Filipino business owners, who came out in full force to celebrate the achievement.Vice Consul Vida Soraya Verzosa of the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary attended the event. She offered words of encouragement to the Madison Manor owners.&quot;This is a testament to Filipino hospitality,&quot; said Verzosa. &quot;It is a great way to promote Filipino entrepreneurship, which must be supported, and definitely, the consulate is here to help out and support in any way we can.&quot;
