<p>MANILA -- The first two mpox cases that were detected in the Philippines this year have already been discharged from the hospitals they were confined in in Metro Manila, according to the Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday.</p><p>In an interview with ABS-CBN News, DOH Spokesperson Assistant Secretary Albert Domingo said Cases 10 and 11 are doing well, although they were advised to continue home isolation.</p><p>&quot;Hindi pa pwedeng lumabas ng bahay… Sa guidelines kasi natin, ang isolation can only finish kapag naka-21 days na simula ng sintomas or kapag nahulog yung mga scabs doon sa mga lesions, whichever is longer,&quot; said Domingo.</p><p>Domingo said the two are still considered as active cases for now, along with six other patients who are under home isolation as well.</p><p>&quot;Ang protocol naman talaga natin, hindi required ang hospital facility isolation. Nagkataon lang na si Case 10 and 11, kaya sila napasok sa ospital nung first time nilang ma-detect, meron silang ibang medical condition requiring hospitalization,&quot; he added.</p><p>The DOH has yet to detect any other new cases, but it said the public should not become complacent.</p><p>&quot;Not finding positives doesn&#x27;t mean na wala dyan. Malalaman lang natin na okay tayo pag talagang nakatest tayo ng maramihan. That&#x27;s what we&#x27;re doing right now,&quot; said Domingo.</p><p>Domingo said the DOH still has enough funds to procure more mpox test kits if necessary, adding that it is also looking at possible donations.</p><p>Filipinos can have themselves tested for mpox for free in all government hospitals, but the release of the results would take about 42 to 78 hours since the samples still need to be sent and processed at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) in Muntinlupa.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/lifestyle/health-wellness/2024/9/4/doh-provides-free-mpox-tests-in-public-hospitals-2229">READ: DOH provides free mpox tests in public hospitals</a></div><p>Capacity training is also ongoing to increase the number of laboratories capable of processing mpox tests nationwide.</p><p>&quot;The goal is to shorten the 48 to 72 hours turnaround time,&quot; he said.</p><div><strong>GUIDELINES FOR BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENTS</strong></div><p>In the coming days, the DOH is set to release mpox prevention guidelines for business establishments, especially those offering services that entail close physical contact.</p><p>&quot;Hindi natin pinapasara ang mga establishments ngunit nagbibigay tayo ng mga abiso kung paano ba pwedeng ipagpatuloy ang kanilang business nang hindi naman nagkakaroon ng problema, hindi lang sa mga kliyente kundi na rin sa mga empleyado,&quot; said Domingo.</p><p>A few days ago, DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa himself joined an agency visit to a couple of establishments in Quezon City, particularly a barbershop and a spa, to see which health protocols they had in place and to determine what more can be done to prevent the spread of mpox.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/lifestyle/health-wellness/2024/9/4/what-we-know-about-the-mpox-outbreak-1041">READ: What we know about the mpox outbreak</a></div><p>According to Domingo, the guidelines also aim to equip these establishments and their personnel with enough knowledge about mpox to be able to recognize it on their clients.</p><p>&quot;May mga pictures kaming in-attach na pag nakita niyo &#x27;to… &#x27;Oh sir, mukhang kailangan yata nating magkonsulta sa doktor.&#x27; Maaaring wag muna tayong kumuha ng service.
