Handout</div>MAKATI — The Orchestra of the Filipino Youth (OFY) will perform a special chamber concert at the Black Box of the Proscenium Theater on Sunday, November 23, at 5 p.m., marking a milestone for the new venue.The concert, titled &quot;Resonant Spaces,&quot; will be conducted by Gerard Salonga, Franz Ramirez, and Jasper Andra. It is the pre-opening performance for the Black Box, a chamber music space designed with Vivace acoustics to ensure warmth, clarity, and intimacy in sound.Chamber music places each musician in a more exposed role than in a full orchestra, giving players greater responsibility for their parts. With fewer instruments, dialogue between performers becomes immediate, and interpretation relies on trust and shared leadership. The result is an intimate, dynamic performance that highlights the nuances of strings, winds, brass, and percussion across different musical eras, from Baroque to contemporary.The OFY is the performing arm of Ang Misyon, a non-profit that provides young Filipino musicians, many from underprivileged backgrounds, access to world-class music education and performance opportunities locally and internationally. Its scholars receive one-on-one lessons, sectional workshops, and masterclasses under the guidance of Salonga and other professional mentors. The orchestra’s repertoire spans classical to contemporary music.OFY scholars come from across the country, including the National Capital Region, Central Luzon, Cebu, and the majority from CALABARZON.
