Their return marks the third installment of the Control + Shift series, now opening its doors to wider audiences from schools and the general public.Written by Dominique La Victoria, “Kislap at Fuego” is directed by Maribel Legarda and J-mee Katanyag, with Filipino translation by Gentle Mapagu. Set during the Philippine Revolution against Spain, the play follows an unlikely romance between a kapre and a country girl, exploring ideas of love, rebirth and revolution through folklore and history.“Children of the Algo,” written by Mixkaela Villalon and directed by Johnnie Moran, centers on Gen Z content creators navigating identity, justice and connection in a digitally mediated world. The play examines how meaning and truth are shaped — and obscured — by algorithms, curated personas and viral narratives.Presented together, the twinbill juxtaposes myth and modernity, folklore and feeds, asking how Filipino values endure, evolve or clash across generations. The pairing reflects PETA Control + Shift’s narrative-change approach, examining how tradition and technology intersect in a rapidly shifting social landscape.
