MANILA -- The Southern Tagalog region, composed of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon, collectively called Calabarzon, is not just rich in history and natural resources.

The region also has an interesting culinary heritage as seen in its unique delicacies and specialty dishes

This month, as the Department of Tourism celebrates Flavors of the Philippines, let's take a look at six culinary treats for a Calabarzon food trip.

1. Buko Pie

A staple in the region, coconut is one of the most important ingredients in Calabarzon's popular delicacies. Among these delicacies is the famous buko pie, which originated from the coconut capital of the country, Quezon.
