In the first week of March 2024, it seemed that several people we know, particularly the fervent fans of global superstar Taylor Swift, were in Singapore to attend the only Southeast Asia stop of her enormous The Eras Tour concert. And one of them is Kim Chiu, who is a self-confessed “certified Swiftie forever.”

And she shared her one-of-a-kind exhilarating experience in her latest vlog, through which she chronicled her short yet sweet trip to Singapore just to watch the award-winning performer. She commenced her vlog by showing the preparations she did a few hours before leaving for Singapore – from asking her friends in her upcoming series “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim to make a couple of custom tops for her, with the special appearance of her leading man Paulo Avelino who was nonchalant about it while they were all being OA with excitement, to packing all her essential stuff in her trusty backpack on the morning of her departure.

Just when Kim assumed that she was too early for her 11 AM flight, she was shocked to realize that her flight was actually 9:15 AM. Thankfully, his personal driver Fredo was fast enough to take her to the airport just right on time, and she even managed to satisfy herself with a bowl of hot lugaw (or rice porridge) for breakfast at her preferred airline’s lounge.

Sharing a few clips inside the plane, the Linlang: The Teleserye Version lead star imparted the introspection she had as she once traveled solo. “May nabasa akong quote na, ‘As you travel solo, being totally responsible for yourself, it’s inevitable that you will discover just how capable you are.’ So, parang may sense of self-discovery when I travel alone. Medyo scary siya, pero kapag hindi mo hinaharap kasi ‘yong fear mo, it will always hunt you,” she conveyed.

Kim arrived in Singapore at around 3 PM and swiftly headed to a shop at a mall to purchase a camera, which she disclosed was a gift for herself. She then headed to a popular beauty store to shop for makeup and went straight to the comfort room of an establishment to change her clothes and do her own makeup inside one of the cubicles. Afterwards, she proceeded to the Singapore Stadium, where she met several Filipinos who asked for photos, chatted, and exchanged friendship bracelets with her.

According to her, it was actually her third time to see Taylor Swift perform live as she was able to watch the Manila leg of her “Speak Now” and “Red” tours in the early 2010s. Thus, she promised herself to not miss the The Eras Tour concert. And she was indeed “the lucky one” as the stars aligned for her for it to be possible. She was able to secure a concert ticket last minute and its schedule fell exactly on her rest day. Just like most of the attendees, she sang her heart out and even got emotional as the American singer-songwriter belted out some of her well-loved songs through the years.

“The first time na kumanta siya, I cried so hard. Parang ‘yong mga music ni Taylor Swift, really speaks sa’yo. Sobrang surreal ng experience kasi kahit wala akong kasama, wala akong ka-share ng experience, Taylor Swift and Taylor Swift songs kept me company,” she recounted.

Then the Chinita Princess added, “Medyo weird siya pakinggan to watch a concert alone, but it was super fun. You should try kasi parang hindi mo na maiisip ‘yong kasama mo. Papakinggan mo na ‘yong music, makikita mo na ‘yong idol mo, and it was a different experience to travel and watch a concert alone kasi parang you’re acknowledging yourself na iwan ka man ng lahat, but at the same time, you only have yourself through good times and the bad.”

She might not be able to finish the concert for she had to catch her 12 AM flight going back to Manila, but she made sure to buy a few merch to complete the experience. Fortunately, she did as she got drenched in the pouring rain while on her way out of the stadium and changed her top to the hoodie she just purchased. And she once again made just right in time and had her dinner aboard the plane.

For Kim, it was an awesome experience that is indeed one for the books. Staying in another country for less than 12 hours could be bitin, yet she made sure to make the most of every moment that she was there.

Aside from sharing her wonderful and exciting experience in attending the concert of one of her favorite artists, she also wished to inspire everyone through this vlog that nothing is definitely impossible as long as you have the determination to chase your dreams or whatever you want to do and have in life.
