Still carrying traces of her bubbly younger self, quirks and all, Jolina Magdangal has seamlessly transitioned into a wife and a mom. In this episode of “Tao Po” with Bernadette Sembrano, Jolina reflects on her journey from being a teen fashion icon in the ‘90s to a modern woman who still has a penchant for all things cute and colorful.In the ‘90s, Jolina was the total trendsetter. That was the era when people would copy her wearing sparkly butterfly clips, bright highlights, layered ‘fits, and uber-cute beads. Her fashion sense was a vibrant expression of individuality, influenced by none other than her childhood idol, Madonna, and her mom&#x27;s penchant for arts and crafts (her mom used to sew laundry bags as a business).Even at the age of 11, Jolina showcased a unique taste in fashion when she debuted with the music group 14-K under Maestro Ryan Cayabyab. Fashion, for her, became a reflection of her true self, a sentiment echoed in her role as Ese in “Gimik.” Imagining a reunion of the “Gimik” barkada, she envisions Ese as a fashion designer in New York, a fitting continuation from the original series where Ese opens her own boutique. “Ang tanong ngayon, sinundan ba ako doon ni Joey?” she said, referring to the character played by Marvin Agustin, her perennial loveteam partner in the ‘90s.In 2011, Jolina married the real-life Joey of her dreams, Marc Escueta. Even now that she’s embraced her new role as a mom to their two kids, her fashion sense remains untouched. To her, fashion is a testament to her commitment to being true to herself, “Kung ano ‘yung feel ko, ‘yun ang gagawin ko, as long as wala akong naapakang tao, wala akong na-o-offend.” She knows her kids will inevitably take after her fashion taste, or at least her love for the arts, too, “’Yung mga anak ko, hindi man sila sobrang ma-accessories, ‘yung colors, gusto nila.”Transitioning into the role of Momshie Jols in &quot;<a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/magandangbuhay" target="_blank">Magandang Buhay</a>,&quot; Jolina balances her busy schedule with the joy of witnessing her children&#x27;s growth. When asked if she enjoys motherhood, her response is a resounding, &quot;Super,&quot; giving credit to her husband Marc for making the journey even more fulfilling.From the ‘90s to today’s modern era, Jolina will stand as an icon, not just for her talent and unique fashion style, but because of her authenticity.
