Heartwarming lessons about family from Marry Me, Marry You

<p>More than the k-drama feels and ‘kilig’, Kapamilya series <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/marryme2021" target="_blank"><u><strong>Marry Me, Marry You</strong></u></a> is loved for the way it portrayed heartwarming Filipino family values. With only a few episodes left, we’re getting into ‘senti’ mode thinking back on the realizations and life lessons about family the show has given us.   </p><div> </div><p>1. Sorrows and challenges are easier to surpass when you’re with your team aka the people who truly love you. Filipino families, like that of Camille (Janine Gutierrez), value teamwork at all times akin to the spirit of ‘bayanihan’ whether in doing domestic chores, paying the bills, or solving any kind of problem.<br/>The three families’ relationship was put to the test when they got robbed of all their hard-earned money due to an investment scam. Family is who we choose and, without a doubt, who chooses us back. It’s evinced by Camille’s closeness with her three foster moms Elvie (Cherry Pie Picache), Paula (Sunshine Dizon), and Marvi (Vina Morales).<br/>Paula and Luke (Fino Herrera)’s special friendship also taught us that somewhere there’s always a ‘family’ willing to foster us when we’re lost. We just have to find them. Or maybe they just come to us at the right time. In a Filipino household, growing up doesn’t equate to outgrowing each other. So, to answer the question, “package deal ba ang pag-ibig,” based on Camille and Andrei (Paulo Avelino)’s love story, we can say yes. Acceptance is the backbone of a strong family. It was easy for Camille to look past Andrei’s flaws and mood swings as how Victor (Lito Pimentel) easily embraced Kelvin (Adrian Lindayag) as gay. Forgiveness fixes the home’s broken parts. For Filipino families, love is the greatest act of sacrifice. Love is the antidote to anger. Families don’t get along all the time. Healing is essential inside the home as unresolved trauma and pain can affect a family member’s relationship with other people, and even his view of himself. “Ang sugat na dinulot ng magulang sa kanyang anak ay latay na dadalhin niya hanggang sa kanyang pagtanda.
