During the Senate inquiry on the Mamasapano clash, Senator Vicente Sotto III asked former Philippine National Police Special Action Force (SAF) commander Getulio Napeñas about the status of the benefits that the family and dependents of the 44 commandos who died in Mamasapano, Maguindanao in 2015 are supposed to receive.

"As of January 25, 2016, we have provided the heirs of SAF 44 a total of P102 million. This includes all the benefit package from the Philippine National Police (PNP), from the National Police Commission, from the Public Safety Mutual Benefit Fund Inc., from the President Social Fund, and from the donations from the Senate, from the House of Representatives and from the different LGUs," Napeñas said.

In addition, he said that all the families and dependents of the SAF 44 receive a total of P527,000 pension benefits every month from the PNP, and a total of P409,000 pension benefits every month from the National Police Commission (Napolcom).
