ILOCOS NORTE - &quot;A lot said I will avenge my Papa&#x27;s death. I just did. Success is sweet, isn&#x27;t it?&quot;This was the message of Ann Marie Loren Reantillo-Pastor, fondly called Lorisse by her relatives and close friends, after passing the 2015 Bar examinations.Lorisse is the second eldest daughter among the five children of former Laoag City Councilor Pepoc and Marieson Pastor.Pepoc was slain inside his office by hired gunmen a few days before Christmas in 2007. The gunmen were arrested a few years later but the mastermind remains unidentified.At that time, Lorisse promised that she would become a lawyer to give honor to her father, who was a famed judge, politician and family man.She went to the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman for her undergraduate degree before taking up law in San Beda Mendiola.The journey had been nostalgic for Lorisse as she studied in the same school and very same classroom as her father -- only that the classroom had already been renovated.But every day she thought, &quot;This is where Papa used to study. In this spot.&quot;There, she felt her father always watched her, motivating her throughout the years.On Tuesday, Lorisse received the good news that she was one of the 1,731 examinees who passed the 2015 Bar exams.She then took to Facebook her message of thanks for her family, particularly her mother and uncle, for their love and support.&quot;Indeed, my papa did not die in vain [because] he had to go away to help us realize that life is hard. We needed to be responsible so God had to take him. My papa guided us from above and he had to make sure that I become a lawyer. Salamat papa. Alam mo gaano ko to pinangarap. Di na nga ako tumangkad dahil sa kakaaral.&quot;To my judge, councilor, lawyer, brod and papa, this one&#x27;s for you! The best!&quot; she saidLorisse said she plans to practice in Laoag and in Manila, but for now, she is still happily savoring her new title as Attorney Pastor.
