One dead, 15 hurt in Batangas crash

BATANGAS - A truck helper was killed while 15 others were injured when a wayward trailer truck rammed into a passenger bus and jeepney in Nasugbu town Tuesday morning, police said.
Senior Superintendent Arcadio Ronquillo Jr., Batangas police director, said the truck helper identified only as Arnel died inside their trailer truck with plate number NUZ- 325.
Police said the trailer truck driven by Emmanuel Siscon was traversing the national highway in Barangay Kaylaway when its brakes malfunctioned at around 6 a.m.
As a result, the truck crashed into the San Agustin bus with plate number TYR-891 and driven by Clodualdo Sintos and a passenger jeepney driven by Benjamin Cruzada.
The crash left 15 passengers from both vehicles wounded.
Witnesses said rescuers took some time to retrieve the trailer truck helper who died on the spot.
Police said the injured victims were brought to Tagaytay Medical Center, Korean Friendship Hospital and Apacible Memorial Hospital for treatment.
