George Calvelo, ABS-CBN News</figcaption></figure></div><p>MAYNILA — Umarangkada ngayong Sabado ang dry run ng zipper lane o counterflow traffic scheme sa Commonwealth Avenue sa Quezon City bago ang tuluyang pagpagpatupad nito sa Lunes. </p><p>Ang naturang lane ang magiging alternatibong ruta ng mga motorista mula sa bahagi ng Fairview na papunta sa University Avenue at C.P. Garcia Avenue para mabawasan ang mga nagsisiksikan sa bahagi ng Elliptical Road tuwing rush hour, na pinalalala ng nagpapatuloy na konstruksyon ng MRT-7.</p><p>Maaaring makapasok sa zipper lane sa bahagi ng Tandang Sora/Luzon Avenue at sa tapat ng UP Ayala Land TechnoHub. </p><ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/12/31/20/zipper-lane-bubuksan-sa-commonwealth-avenue-simula-enero-2">&#x27;Zipper lane&#x27; bubuksan sa Commonwealth avenue simula Enero 2</a></li></ul><p>Matatapos na ang lane sa intersection ng Commonwealth Avenue eastbound at University Avenue kung saan magpapatupad ng stop-and-go traffic scheme para makatawid ang mga sasakyan.</p><p>Makakadaan sa zipper lane tuwing Lunes hanggang Biyernes, alas-6 hanggang alas-11 ng umaga.</p><p>“The purpose of the zipper lane is to divert motorists who want to bypass ‘yung ating Commonwealth Elliptical Road and North Avenue area given the heavy volume of traffic dito sa panulukan ng North Avenue and Elliptical Road kung saan ongoing pa rin ang construction ng MRT-7,” paliwanag ni Alberto Kimpo, QC assistant city administrator.</p><p>Karaniwang dumaraan pa sa Elliptical Road ang mga motorista para makapag-U-turn patungong University Avenue sa University of the Philippines.</p><p>Kadalasan umanong umaabot nang 30 hanggang 45 minuto ang binubuno na bigat ng trapiko mula sa bahagi ng UP Ayala Land TechnoHub para maabot ang U-turn slot sa Elliptical Road.</p><div><strong>Inaasahang pagbilis ng biyahe </strong></div><p>Ibinasura na ng QC Task Force for Traffic Management ang naunang plano kung saan papasok sa University Avenue ang mga motorista mula sa eastbound ng Commonwealth Avenue para mag-U-turn sa intersection ng University Avenue at C.P. Garcia Avenue at makabalik sa Commonwealth Avenue. </p><div><strong>PANOORIN: </strong></div><figure class="op-interactive"><iframe height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/a_tp-gKC8jc?enablejsapi=1" width="560"></iframe></figure><div class="iwantbar">Watch more in <a href="//www.iwantv.com.ph/">iWantv</a> or <a href="//tfc.tv/">TFC.tv</a></div><p>“We learned during the dry run last Thursday that the volume is going to result in congestion along University Avenue, which is something that we’re trying to avoid which is why we’re having the zipper lane,” sabi ni Kimpo.</p><p>Ngayong Sabado, kung kailan kakaunti pa lang ang mga sasakyan sa kalye, mabilis ang biyahe papasok sa University Avenue gamit ang zipper lane.</p><p>Ikinatuwa naman ng isang motorista ang zipper lane.</p><p>“Mabigat talaga [kapag] doon sa [Quezon Memorial] Circle ang U-turn,” sabi ng motorista na si Marvin Chua. </p><p>“[Ngayon], okay naman ho. Mabilis naman siya, wala namang problema,” dagdag niya. </p><p>Magkakaalaman sa susunod na linggo, sa pagbabalik ng mga motorista matapos ang holiday break, kung magiging mas maluwag nga ang daloy ng trapiko dahil sa zipper lane. </p><p>Tatagal ang naturang traffic scheme hanggang sa Feb. 27, kasabay ng inaasahang pagtatapos ng kontruksyon ng MRT-7 sa North Avenue intersection area. </p><p>“We understand the challenges that they (EEI Corporation) face in their construction. The Quezon City government is also supporting the ‘Build, Build, Build’ project of the national government but we just need to put some mitigating measures so that we’re able to address the plight of our motorists in this alignment,” sabi ni Kimpo.<br/> </p>
