The issue between our 2 countries are problems that do not belong between 2 friends. I shall push for the resumption of tourism and cultural cooperation,&quot; Marcos said. </p><p>Aside from enhancing trade and commerce, Marcos also hopes to encourage Chinese tourists, students, and investors to return to the Philippines as it opens in the new normal, Malacañang said in a statement.</p><p>Last week, the President said he was not keen on pushing for stricter travel restrictions for travelers from China, which is grappling with a massive surge in COVID-19 infections. </p><p>New protocols should be <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/12/29/22/marcos-jr-curbs-on-chinese-travelers-depend-on-true-risk">based on science</a> and the &quot;true risk&quot; the surge poses to the country, Marcos said. </p><p>The Department of Foreign Affairs earlier said Marcos&#x27; state visit to China was <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/12/29/22/dfa-defends-marcos-state-visit-to-china-amid-covid-surge" target="_blank">too important</a> to be postponed. </p><p>To minimize the risk of exposure to the virus, the Philippine delegation will travel in a bubble arrangement, the agency said. </p><p>Marcos&#x27; trip to China is his first bilateral visit to a non-ASEAN country. He went on a similar trip to China in 1976 with his mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, according to Malacañang.</p>
