ILIGAN CITY – A week after a Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) execution video leaked on Facebook, ABS-CBN News received a video of MILF Western Mindanao Division Commander Asadullah Macapaar alias Bravo explaining the justice system practiced by Muslims in Lanao del Sur.

In the 12-minute video, Bravo responded to criticisms on their death penalty enforcement, by firing squad.

Bravo believes that the Islamic justice system precedes the Philippine government’s ways of upholding law.

He said men who were executed were charged of multiple murder. They have been arrested by the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces and were detained in the MILF Camp and faced litigation.

Bravo maintained that there was due process before death sentences were meted out.

But even after the men were convicted, Islamic Scholars pleaded to the complainants for the lives of the men on death row.

“Kinausap sila ng mga Shariah, ng mga Ulama, na kung pwede pumayag siyang wag nalang patayin yun,” he said.

Also sent to ABS-CBN News were photos showing packets of shabu allegedly seized in their own anti-drug operations in Lanao del Sur.

The MILF commander said that even before President Rodrigo Duterte’s advocacy, they already waged war against drugs.

“Hindi namin kinukumpetensya ang gobyerno ng Pilipinas, baka sabihin ni pangulong Duterte na meron kaming sariling justice. Hindi,” he said.

MILF has expressed support for the president's effort in curbing the drug menace.

The MILF also has its own drug rehabilitation facility inside its camp in Wato Balindong.
