Fallen trees and rocks from landslides and flash floods made roads in Iligan City impassable

ILIGAN CITY- Debris from landslides and flash floods in remote areas here have not yet been cleared as of Thursday afternoon.

Rocks, soil and fallen trees covered roads in Sitio Lumbatin, Baranggay Pugaan since the flooding last Monday.

The heavy rains left deep mud puddles in some roads.

Last Monday, school children and teachers were captured on video trailing on a flooded road in Lumbatin.

Residents say the roads now are severely damaged and hardly
passable.

The local government attempted to send heavy equipment to help clear the roads but could not get through.

Even residents find it difficult to cross from Lumbatin to the barangay’s center. They have to brave 2 inundated rivers.

Residents hope that the government will make good of its promise to build a strong and high bridge and paved roads so that they will have easier access to government support.
