MANILA - A 28-year-old man was arrested for allegedly extorting money and demanding sex from a female victim in exchange for not posting her nude photos online. Warren Sacluti was caught in the act of receiving P5,000 at a remittance center in Mandaluyong City, Thursday morning. He was immediately arrested by operatives of the Women and Children Cybercrime Protection Unit (WCCP) of the PNP Anti Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG).The female victim, identified as Sheila, said Sacluti threatened to spread her nude photos on Facebook. Sheila said she met the suspect through the Messenger app in 2017 and they became friends. WCCP chief, Senior Supt. Alejandra Silvio said Shiela considered the suspect as her virtual boyfriend. “Una ang tingin ng babae, ay virtual boyfriend daw niya ang ka-chat niya, sabi ng victim,&quot; Silvio said.Shiela said she was curious and looking for attention at that time. “Curious po ako kung ano rin po ang mararamdaman nila kung binigyan ko sila ng litrato,” she said. &quot;Insecurity sa sarili kaya nagawa po yon. Parang satisfaction po iyon that time. Dati po yon. Naghahanap din po kase ako ng makakausap eh. Pero siyempre naisip ko rin na mali ang ginawa ko,” Shiela added. Since then, the suspect began to blackmail her into meeting up. “Gusto niya makipagkita pero ayoko tinatakot niya ako na ikakalat niya ang pictures online. Tinakot niya ko na ikakalat niya ang pictures ko sa online, sa kaibigan, sa officemates, sa family,” Shiela said.When Sacluti began sending Shiela’s nude photos to her boyfriend, Shiela decided to ask for help from PNP-ACG. “Initial na demand niya is P5,000 pero nakipag-bargain ang victim na ibaba, nag-decide ang victim na pumunta sa atin baka kase kung ano ang mangyari sa kanya. Ang demand, sa motel sila magkita,” Silvio said.The entrapment operation resulted in the suspect’s arrest. The suspect said he only meant to scare the victim because he needed the money. “Gusto ko pong magbigay ng malaki sa pamilya ko. Hindi ko naman talaga gagawin sa kanya ‘yon,” Sacluti said.Authorities reminded netizens to be careful when making friends online. “Out of the blue, nag-friend request sa inyo tapos wala naman kayong mutual friend sa mga friends niya at friends nyo dapat mag-ingat tayo sa ganoon. Kilalanin nating mabuti kung sino ang nagpi-firend request bago natin i-accept ang mga friend requests,” Silvio said.“Wag tayo basta basta magtitiwala sa kausap natin lalo yon ka-chat mo lang siya, kakilala mo lang diyan sa social media. Wag tayo magtitiwala kahit gaano pa katamis agn pag-eengganyo sa inyo na sa atin lang ito, wag tayong magtitiwala. Magagamit against sa atin ang mga ganong sensitive photos,” she added.The suspect will be charged with violation of the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, grave coercion and robbery extortion.
