Michelle Soriano, ABS-CBN News</figcaption></figure></div>BAGUIO CITY (UPDATED) - The Department of Health urged residents here to take precautions as the temperature on Wednesday dropped to the lowest so far this year.Residents are complaining of coughs and colds as 9 degrees Celsius was recorded here early Wednesday. In other upland areas like Sto. Tomas in Tuba, Benguet, the temperature dropped to 6.2 degrees.Influenza is also common during the cold season, authorities said. People should wash their hands to avoid the spread of disease, said Amelita Pangilinan, DOH Cordillera regional director.However, influenza cases from Jan. 1 to 12 dropped by 32 percent compared to the comparable period in 2018.People should wear jackets and thick clothing to keep warm, drink lots of fluids and eat fruits and vegetables to boost their immune system.Other residents also experienced dry eyes, blurred vision and sensitivity to light.
