MANILA - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board on Wednesday identified the Rainbow Express bus driver who was caught on video driving counterflow along Regalado Avenue in Quezon City.

"Yung pangalan po ng driver ng Rainbow bus ay Alberto Agustin po," said LTFRB spokesperson Aileen Lizada. Lizada also identified the bus conductor as Desiderio Flores.

The Rainbow Express bus with plate number TXF 713 was caught on video counterflowing traffic. The bus driver also threatened a motorist who was taking the video of the traffic incident.

"We see how abusive some of the drivers are. A license is a privilege given by government to be on the road. The same way with the prangkisa po. It does not mean na mayroon kayong lisensiya o prangkisa pwede nyo nang gawin anong gusto ninyong gawin sa daanan," Lizada said.

The spokesperson said the LTFRB has issued a show cause order to the bus company. A hearing is set for February 15th at 9 a.m.

"Ipapa-explain po doon sa operator at driver bakit hindi ikakansela yung kanilang prangkisa for reckless driving, for taking a counterflow, endangering the lives of pedestrians," she said.

The LTFRB, she said, also coordinated with the Land Transportation Office for the bus driver's license.

"Ibinigay na namin yung pangalan ng driver para maaksiyunan ng LTO yung part ng sa driver's license," she said.

Lizada said they are still gathering data as to the other violations that the company's buses have committed.

If found guilty of more violations, the company, which operates 10 buses, could lose its franchise.

"Their franchise is good hanggang June 17, 2018," she said. with DZMM
