COVID-19 positive
Hong Kong health authorities said a Filipina migrant worker tested positive for the COVID-19. Reports said the Filipina got it from her employers and that she hung out with other OFWs. At the same time, the government lifted the travel ban on Hong Kong and Macau. The Department of Health (DOH) said Filipinos on board a Japanese cruise ship who tested positive of COVID-19 won’t be brought home.

Sent packing due to 'pastillas'
The heads of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) unit in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) have been relieved while an investigation into allegations of payoffs from Chinese nationals is ongoing. Some Chinese allegedly enter the country as tourists and later work for Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO) hubs. The Palace denied it was ignoring issues involving POGOs.

Franchise foibles
The Supreme Court gave the network five days to answer a petition filed by the Office of Solicitor General (OSG) asking for a gag order on the quo warranto case. The Palace said the OSG is right on the gag order. Meanwhile, Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman said congressmen are being asked to withdraw signatures to a resolution urging the Committee on Legislative Franchise to take up the network’s franchise.

Failure of intelligence
Police Lt. Col. Jovie Espenido said his inclusion in the government’s list of drug personalities was a “failure of intelligence.” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo agreed, saying “wrong information” could be fed into the “system” and that Espenido was a victim.
