After Tanay crash, Palace orders LTFRB to ensure safety of buses

Malacañang has ordered the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board to make sure that all public transportation buses in the country are safe and roadworthy, following the fatal bus crash in Tanay, Rizal on Monday that killed 15 people.

"The Palace expressed its condolences to the families of the victims who died in the fatal bus mishap in Tanay, Rizal. Monday’s crash, which killed 14 Quezon City students and the bus driver who were on a field trip, has once again highlighted the country’s faulty regulation of driver licenses and public transportation franchises.

The crash has also put a spotlight on compulsory field trips.

Senator Grace Poe on Tuesday said she will be filing a resolution calling for an investigation on the bus crash. Poe, who has made transportation and commuter safety her advocacy, said the Senate probe seeks to address these issues.
