MANILA (UPDATED) - Typhoon Wutip may enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Thursday, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

In its 11 a.m. advisory on Tuesday, the typhoon was last spotted still outside of PAR 1,970 kilometers east of Central Luzon.

It is packing maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kph), with gusts of up to 225 kph.

Weather forecaster Raymond Ordinario said Wutip is moving North slowly and poses no direct threat to any part of the country yet.

If the weather disturbance enters PAR, it will be named Betty, the second tropical cyclone to enter the Philippines in 2019.

Wutip, a name submitted by Chinese authorities, means butterfly, PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, the amihan or cool wind from the northeast may bring isolated light rains over the Bicol region and the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, PAGASA said, will experience clear weather.
