No basis yet to arrest Mighty Corp. president: Aguirre

<p>MANILA - There is no reason to arrest the president of Mighty Corp. because there are no cases filed against him, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre said on Wednesday after a closed-door meeting with the businessman. </p><p>&quot;I believe that the proper thing to do is for the representatives of Mighty Corp., the Department of Finance, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), the Bureau of Customs and the Department of Justice (DOJ) to sit down and fully determine the exact liabilities of Mighty Corp.,&quot; Aguirre said in a statement.</p><p>The DOJ will determine if probable cause exists to act against Mighty Corp. President Alexander Wong Chu King, in case government agencies decide to file a criminal complaint against the cigarette maker, he said.</p><p>Yesterday, President Rodrigo Duterte <a href="http://news.abs-cbn.com/business/03/07/17/duterte-orders-arrest-of-mighty-cigarette-owner-over-fake-tax-stamps" target="_blank">ordered the arrest</a> of King for economic sabotage. Mighty Corp. recently figured in raids around the country, where authorities found their products bearing allegedly fake tax stamps. </p><ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="http://news.abs-cbn.com/business/03/08/17/more-mighty-cigarettes-found-with-fake-tax-stamps">More Mighty cigarettes found with fake tax stamps</a></li></ul><p>Duterte also claimed that Mighty Corp. sent him a gift, a box containing cash, when he was still mayor of Davao City.</p><p>On Tuesday, King also met with National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) officials.
