Sepe, Jr., ABS-CBN News/File</figcaption></figure></div>MANILA - Government prosecutors have opposed former Vice President Jejomar Binay&#x27;s plea for the Sandiganbayan to dismiss his cases in connection with the allegedly anomalous construction of the P2.2-billion Makati City Parking Building.Binay, a long-time Makati City mayor, is facing 9 counts of falsification of public documents, 4 counts of graft and 1 count of malversation. He earlier filed a plea asking the Sandiganbayan to reconsider its dismissal of his petition to junk the charges. Charged with him were former Makati City Hall officials, as well as private respondents MANA Architecture and Interior Design Co Representative Orlando Mateo, and Hillmarc’s Construction Corporation Representative Efren Canlas.His son Jejomar &quot;Junjun&quot; Binay Jr. is also charged with 2 graft cases and 1 malversation charge for the allegedly overpriced project. He has also asked the anti-graft court to dismiss the charges. <ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="http://news.abs-cbn.com/news/03/06/18/junjun-binay-presses-sandiganbayan-to-dismiss-makati-parking-building-cases">Junjun Binay presses Sandiganbayan to dismiss Makati Parking Building cases</a></li></ul>In a motion filed by the Office of the Special Prosecutor led by Deputy Special Prosecutor Omar Sagadal, it was noted that the court had already addressed the grounds Binay raised in his reconsideration plea.“A reading of the assailed resolution shows that the Honorable Court painstakingly addressed each of the grounds raised by accused Binay Sr.,” the Office of the Ombudsman&#x27;s motion stated.The court had said in its resolution rejecting Binay&#x27;s dismissal plea that the elements in the charges made by the Office of the Ombudsman were &quot;sufficiently alleged.&quot;Binay was still Makati City mayor when P11.011 million of the city&#x27;s funds were paid to MANA Architecture and Interior Design Co from 2007 to 2010.He is also accused of conspiring with other public officials over the said anomalous construction.In his motion for reconsideration, Binay argued that the Court made a &quot;grave error&quot; in denying his prayer for the outright quashal of the cases against him and for the suspension of proceedings until issues raised before the Supreme Court have been resolved.The prosecution, however, reiterated that the matter was already considered by the court.The prosecution also asserted that the procurement of services for the parking building involved a total amount of P2.288 billion.“Instead of safeguarding such huge amount of public funds, accused public officers even took advantage of their respective positions to make it appear that the requirements under the law were duly complied with,” the court said.
