MANILA (UPDATE) - Vince Dizon, the Presidential Adviser for Flagship Programs and Projects, is the latest government official to go on self-quarantine following exposure to a person who tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).Dizon, along with other Philippine officials such as Finance Secretary Sonny Dominguez, were exposed to a COVID-19-positive person.Other government officials have also went on self-quarantine due to exposure to persons who tested positive for COVID-19. The facility was used to quarantine Filipinos repatriated from virus-hit areas like Wuhan in China and the Diamond Princess cruise ship. Two repatriates from the Diamond Princess tested positive for COVID-19. They have been transferred to a hospital in San Fernando, Pampanga. According to the Department of Health, a total of 442 repatriates were released from New Clark City in Tarlac, north of the capital Manila. Of this number, 437 are crew members while 5 others are passengers. Earlier this week, the Philippines declared a state of health emergency, prompting all government units to join the fight in containing the virus which has killed some 4,000 people and infected about 110,000 others worldwide.
